Inner Calling with Dr. Victoria
Episode Guide + Categories
Dear Inner Callers,
Think of this podcast as a love letter from my bipolar brain to yours.
My brain doesn’t think linearly. Instead, the best way I can describe my brain is like there are a bunch of spiders inside it, weaving with all sets of their eight legs at once. It’s fun, a little chaotic, and somehow webs still appear. :)
This means that each week in the podcast might bring a totally different topic than the one before.
To make it easier to follow along, I’ve created a system of categories that appear before each episode title.
Episodes are organized by theme, and you’ll find a brief description of each theme below with my commentary on it.
Becoming
This category is inspired by one of my friends. I went to her bemoaning how I had messed something up. And she said the nicest thing to me. She said, “There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re just becoming.”
Thus, these episodes are about the process of becoming. I was traditionally (and quite rigorously) trained as a clinical child psychologist, so I view life through the lens of development. It turns out that development doesn’t end with childhood, it continues onward, throughout our lives. As adults, we don’t think much about this, but it’s important to be reminded of this perspective, that no matter what we are facing, we can meet it with a sense of self-compassion for our process of Becoming.
These episodes thus explore the existential, growth, and very human process of Becoming.
Experiments
I like to see life like an experiment. It takes the edge out of trying new things and promotes fun and curiosity. Thus, this category of episodes have experimental practices that we tried out for fun (e.g., smiling when you don’t feel like).
Reflections
These episodes are invitations to invite greater reflection into your life. I share my insights and reflections on a topic to help encourage your own reflection on it. Reflection is an extremely important skill that is dying as our busy modern lives allow for less time and space for it.
Pep Talks
Sometimes you just need one in life. So I created these episodes for those moments. The really hard ones.
Life Tools
These episodes share some of my favorite life tools—the ones that have truly been gamechangers for me and patients I’ve seen over the years, to help with depression, anxiety, stress, and existential concerns.
Spirituality 101
These episodes walk listeners through evidence-based ways to explore your spirituality in an inclusive manner, incorporating the latest in mental health interventions.
Thank you for joining me!
